The IVONA human text-to-speech software - designed by IVO Software, was recognized by the world's most famous experts as the best!
The Blizzard Challenge is organized by one of the world's most famous university centres -
the Carnegie Mellon University from USA. The official results of the challenge were announced during
the world's biggest conference on text-to-speech - Interspeech 2006 held September 16-21 2006 in Pittsburg.
The challenge gathered
14 groups from all over the world:
7 scientific centres and
7 research & development centres representing the biggest companies in the TTS field, for instance:
ATR, Japan;
Carnegie Mellon University,
USA;
CSTR, University of Edinburgh,
Great Britain;
DFKI,
Saarbrücken,
Germany;
IBM,
Yorktown Heights,
USA;
IBM,
Haifa,
Israel;
Kyoto University,
Japan;
Microsoft Research Asia,
China;
Nagoya Institute of Technology,
Japan;
University of Science and Technology of China. The entrants were given voice recordings and were expected to create its artificial equivalents. Within 6 weeks the entrants created a TTS that used the same voice as the speaker. Then they were provided with a few hundred sentences to be read by the artificial voice. After being processed and read by the artificial voice, the text was sent back to the challenge organizers in order to be assessed by a group of experts.
According to
the world's famous experts, the best technology of generating human speech (text-to-speech) was presented by the Polish company -
IVO Software and
the IVONA TTS created by the IVO's Research and Development Department. The results revealed that
the quality and natural-sounding voice of IVONA is unquestionably the leading solution and leaves the other competitors far behind.
This
unprecedented success of the Polish spirit of enterprise and technology achieved by the young company - IVO Software, will hopefully result in further development of the company and what's more important, will lead to the
promotion of the Polish achievements in the world.
